The spokesman for the Yemeni army, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, stated on Monday that the Yemeni armed forces have carried out 1,122 targeting operations against the Houthi militia, as part of the "Battle of Liberation and the completion of the restoration of state institutions and the end of the Houthi coup," after the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, announced the start of military operations to establish state control over all Yemeni territories.
Al-Nazili added in a statement that the armed forces "continue their military operations on various fronts and battle lines according to the approved plans."
He continued: "Our armed forces have carried out 1,122 precise targeting operations against artillery positions, rocket launchers, defensive fortifications, approaches and movements, supply lines and means, combat reinforcements and mobilizations, governing bodies, and command and control centers belonging to the Houthi terrorist militia, in the fronts and axes of Saada, Al-Jawf, Taiz, and the coast."
The spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces pointed out that the targeting operations "varied between warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles, rocket launchers, and snipers."
He mentioned that the operations resulted, according to field reports, in "neutralizing 1,747 militia elements, and destroying and damaging 364 military vehicles, equipment, and means of transport and supply."
He continued: "Our armed forces continue to carry out their tasks with steadfastness and competence, in the battle for liberation and the restoration of the state's lands and institutions, and the establishment of its national sovereignty, and achieving the tasks assigned to them."
Yemeni Presidential Council Chairman Rashad Alimi announced on Sunday the start of military operations to reclaim what remains of the country's lands and to establish the authority of the state and its institutions over the entire national territory, confirming the transition from a phase of readiness and preparation to a phase of liberation after exhausting all opportunities for calm.
Alimi said in a statement to the Yemeni people: "In light of our constitutional responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the republic and its citizens, and based on the decisions of the National Defense Council, and after completing the necessary procedures and measures, I announce today the start of military operations to reclaim what remains of the republic's lands and to establish the authority of the state and its institutions over the entire national territory."
He added that he issued directives to the armed forces, security, and all military formations to "begin implementing their assigned tasks according to the approved plans, until the country is liberated from the grip of the terrorist Houthi militia."
The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Council confirmed that the decision to start operations came after "the state granted peace all the time and opportunities it deserved, while the militias responded to the efforts for calm with more mobilization and escalation, and expanding their attacks and threats against civilians, national facilities, neighboring countries, and international waterways."
He said that "the state's position today is to bear its national responsibility in confronting the Houthi militias after exhausting all opportunities for calm, the continued presence of weapons outside the authority of the state, and the threat to the security of citizens and the sovereignty of the country, the region, and international shipping lanes."
On Sunday evening, the Yemeni armed forces announced the start of what they called the "Liberation Battle" to complete the restoration of state institutions and areas under Houthi control, based on the directives of Alimi.
The official spokesman for the armed forces, Colonel Majid Abdullah Al-Nazili, stated in a statement that the battle aims to "restore all state territories and establish complete national sovereignty, and to end all manifestations of the coup" in the areas controlled by the Houthis.
He added that the start of operations comes "from the constitutional and moral responsibility" of the military institution to protect the country, noting that the armed forces seek to complete the restoration of state institutions and end what he described as the "coup," and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
He considered that the military operations represent a step towards returning Yemen to its "Arab embrace and strategic depth," emphasizing, at the same time, the commitment of the armed forces to protect civilians and spare them the harms of military operations in various regions and governorates.
